Our Approach

Girl Power Foundation Uganda focuses on three core program areas, each tailored to address specific challenges and empower girls and young women in Nyamigoye Parish, Kanungu District:

1. Mentorship and Life Skills Development

Our flagship program, the Go Girls’ mentorship initiative, is designed to cultivate agency, boost self-esteem, and equip girls with essential life skills.Through weekly sessions lasting 1-2 hours, girls aged 10-18 gather in a safe space to explore arange of topics. These include self-esteem building, effective communication, menstruation awareness, mental health, resilience, leadership, goal setting, and healthy relationships. We firmly believe that every girl possesses unique potential, which can be hindered by the challenges they face. Through mentorship, we aim to help them recognize their worth and unlock their full potential, empowering them to be agents of positive change in their communities.

Sauti Ya Dada

This program creates vital spaces for adolescent girls, providing them with access to crucial information and tools needed to develop and amplify their leadership skills. Through strategic partnerships with the Creative Action institute and secondary schools, we offer support to girls, enabling them to learn, explore, and nurture their agency. By doing so, we aim to facilitate transformative change not only in their local communities but on a broader scale, impacting their countries and the world.

2. Quality Education for Girls

Recognizing the challenges faced by many girls upon completing primary education, we strive to bridge the gap. Lack of financial resources to attend boarding schools, coupled with the absence of nearby

secondary institutions, can hinder their educational journey. At Girl Power Foundation Uganda, we offer scholarships and essential scholastic materials to outstanding performers, ensuring they have access to quality education at the lower secondary level. Additionally, with the support of Amplify Girls, we extend assistance to candidates in secondary school who are on the verge of dropping out due to financial constraints. Our commitment also extends to young mothers seeking a second chance to pursue their education.

3. Girl Power Skills

This program caters for young mothers and vulnerable girls who have left the formal education system in our community. We equip them with indispensable vocational skills in tailoring and weaving, empowering them to achieve financial independence. Over the course of a year-long training program, participants gain not only technical skills but also life skills, entrepreneurship know- how, business skills, and work readiness skills. In a community where vocational opportunities are scarce and cultural norms may discourage women from pursuing individual economic endeavors, these skills provide a beacon of hope. By enabling these girls with employable skills, we are poised to disrupt the status quo, ultimately enhancing the overall livelihoods of our community.

We help girls achieve their full potential.
